New daiwa basia

Pricey yes but nice one daiwa at least they are listening because those flimsy sea guides are the only reason i didn’t keep mine.
The handle looks awesome too. Love the eva section on the back, love the full cork hood and i really like the back cap too.
Proper job.
Now they just need to work on their prices and look into bringing out an 11 footer

Agree Rich - this constant rhetoric that all rods must be 12ft, then occasionally 11ft drives me potty.

I'm using 10ft's on small rivers and 11.6 in other places.
Quite agree Jon.
I do get it for larger rivers where the extra length is useful for various things like casting at distance or skypodding etc but for everything else it’s too long imo. 11ft just seems to make more sense

Oh no, my favourite rods have new runners on....... I'm quite happy with the ones I have got on, i was sceptical, but can't fault them, they could put some old seymos on, I'd still get them. The jewel is the blank...
Daiwa missed out again imo, should have put some K guides/antifrap that would have made me sit up...
Agree Richard, be nice to see some 11s

Not a bad price because you get a free gift when you spend £300.🤣🤣🤣
If its another rod i might consider it. Outrageous price

If it's £200+ better than the longbow X45 floater rod (yeah I know) I bought last year, it's gonna be worth every penny!

It sounds expensive but I've probably spent that on barbel rods over the last 12 months trying different ones etc

Anyone bought one ? Can't decide between the X45X or the original X45 as a retirement present to myself. :)

I bought the 1.75lb X45 from Uttings a couple of months ago (they still have stock), but I've not had chance to use it yet. I couldn't care less about what guides and tip rings it has.

The new version is silly money. The specialist coarse industry is going the way of fly fishing - in five years time a half-decent rod will cost a grand.

Back in covid days total fishing tackle ran an auction on ebay. As the only bidder I won a new basia barbel 2.75 for 159.99 delivered. Used it a couple of times, far too powerful for my needs. Sold it. Sorry for long story but the blank was the dogs nuts. Always wanted a less powerful one, watched the uttings listing for months. But at 81 got to be sensible, hence sold my torrix's last year . But the barbel x 45 blank was the best I ever used. I have had most too before u ask. Would have one tomorrow. I am still bidding on rods. A 2 1/4 or 1.7/5 at not silly money and its mine! But the only hesitation for me is that as a 2 piece its very hard to sell due to carriage costs. Not fair to apply but silly to ignore. Thus I tend to look at 3 pce now.

What’s so good about them Alec? How would describe them in comparison to other top end blanks you’ve used?
