1990's era, has spliced tip apparently, which us very much of the era, so a capable stick rod? Apparenrly not a sought after rod but a beautiful looking rod imo albeit a bit ott on graphics.
For me it would be a keeper, if especially it has the spliced tip, which in itself is a big plus.
Possibly c. £60-70 value?
Won't surprise anyone on here you have unearthed another little gem.😄

Hi Rob
Only posted on this forum for this rod about a year ago. I'm interested if you will sell. I used this rod for barbel on the float and as a powerful carp rod back in the day for fishing down the edge. My son broke the top section 20 yrs ago but I still have the rod.

I have both the 13 and 14ft triple x. I have had the 13ft from new and it has been a very good rod. I have had the 14ft for about a year and not used it yet! As @Neil Smart mentioned these rods have spliced tips. There are not that many around so similar to Silstar diaflex match rods not many people know how good they are. Hence they are not sought after because not many people have had the chance to try them. You can pick them up really cheaply simply because they are not known. But they don’t get sold much because there are not many of them and perhaps those that have them, appreciate them.

One of the best rod Shimano ever made. It was made in Japan if I remember correctly. I don’t know why people think this rod is not sought after, in fact it is, search on eBay, most of them went around 100-120, and the condition is not as good as yours.

Agree with this….IMO Rob either keep it (I would) or put on eBay for a premium price…it will sell eventually

I managed to get my 14ft triple x off facebay for 25 it is mint and with its original rod sleeve in similar condition. There are so few sold, sometimes the seller does not know what they might sell for. I did not know they could fetch over 100! I think my 13 ft was about that new, a tidy sum back then.
My other bargain trotting rod a Silstar diaflex super match was 15 but that was damaged and no bag. The previous owner had cut it down from 4.20m to 13ft because he had trouble threading the tiny eyes. 😢 Again sought after, but by very few, so pricing is erratic Also these rods are often miss advertised. Even at 13ft it feels a great rod. These ought to be more well known too. I intend to get it back up to 4.20m but there are difficulties and unknowns with this repair.

I remember paying £80 for the rod around 1990, I was the 3rd owner I think. A bit heavy for match fishing. Carp puddles were booming and Gold Valley was at the forefront. Long rod down the edge was the way to go. This rod was perfect for handling the larger carp. Subsequently I used it a lot for surface fishing on the bread. One me loads of money in the day. Don't like ebay, sold off all my normarks etc 10 yrs ago. And didn't get paid for a twin tip. Big regret now as taken it up again purely for Barbel. Will pay a sensible price and if it goes on ebay will pay this price...no more. I'd rather collect the rod in person but hey ho that's down to the seller. 😃
