Tench rods.

Yes own/use both. I tend to prefer to float fish for tench but often also put a helirig feeder out on my peregrine GTI at same time. But if longer range and method feeders needed I use my C3s….that’s what I’ll be doing in a couple of weeks using some Tina berrie boilies on order, the pit is a carp syndicate and the C3s have coped well with mid twenties so far (very weedy pit too). I think they’re great rods and the peregrine doubles as my Ouse barbel rod and the C3s for occasional Trent trips
Yes I love watching a float mate too I’ve got a specimen acolyte for that but some times on bigger pits etc it suits to fish on feeders etc doesn’t it. Brilliant mate c3 is deffo on the list then. Have you used torrix’s before to compare to them if so what your thoughts on them?

Don’t know about the Torrix blanks mate I’ve got a 11ft 1lb 12oz tc TW Lone Angler rod (custom Harrison blank) that I’m told is very similar to the torrix in that length and tc but that’s going to be a lot different to the higher test curves, you probably already know that the Harrison blanks vary greatly even within the ranges of blanks and most Chimera’s are different in action from one another and it’s the same variation within the Torrix range, someone on here will be able to tell you more? Mate.
Brill thanks mate. Yes I know it’s a minefield isn’t it and even though same manufacturer and same rod range can vary massively.

Never used a Torrix so can’t comment, I think plenty of others on here use them though

Chimera 2's are excellent, as the 1.75 Daiwa infinity rods. But my favourites for up to 50-60 yards are the 1.75lb Harrison Interceptor 2's. Basically a C2 without the carbon weave and a slightly more forgiving butt section.
So you thinking you could hit further with the c2s? Cheers for reply mate chimeras looking favourite atm.

I reckon the C2 would be great up to 50-60 yards as Joe says but struggle a bit beyond that.

I’ve used 1.75 Torrixs which I liked and the Drennan Tench and Bream in 1.75 and 2lb which were either too soft or too stiff for me. I’ve settled on the Infinitys which I really like and I can use for most of my Barbel fishing as well.

I’ve been looking out for Armalites that I can afford, well regarded by the tenchers same with Basias. And interceptors in both the medium and long range versions that Joe on here put me on to - they don’t come up often used and tend to hold their value when they do. Three came up in mint condition for £450 a while back when I had no spare cash unfortunately.

Some of the tenchers are using free spirit big waters for longer chucks and weedy waters. I think I read Dai Gribble uses them these days.

Brilliant mate thanks for the reply. What they like for casting and playing fish the armalites do you know?

I love Armalites and use 2.25 and 2.75 for my carping. Personally I think the 2.5Ib might be a bit over gunned maybe!?
If anyone is interested I have a pair of mk3 1.75 Armalites never used, brand new in bags - bought them from a member on here last year to use as bream/tench rods but doubt I will now use instead of the C3s….if interested send me a message

With heavier feeder then yes, a little more. Although the interceptors will cast a 1.25oz bomb slightly further.

I'm not 100% sure the Interceptor blanks are still available from Harrison's.
There’s a pair on eBay at the moment. Nearly went for Interceptors when I had my tench customs made, upon you’re advice, Joe. But opted for c2s, only on the basis they’d be slightly more suitable for heavy water (Avon & Stour) Barbel, compared to my Hi-S SUs.

Had a waggle / back garden bend on both too, thanks to a couple of pals.

There’s not a lot between them, but you’re 100% right about the forgiving leverage as you get down to the bottom section.

Love my c2s though, they reliably do what I want them to.
