Cleaning cork handles

Hi all,
Any suggestions on how to clean cork handles ? Soap and water I assume ?
But maybe someone knows a better method ?
Thanks in Advance👍

To just clean them I use wet wipes then dry off with a towel. If you want to bring them back to that velvet like feel then a light going over with a scotch pad will do it but remember every time you do that you are removing a thin layer

I've cleaned some really filthy ones that came from boot sales just using hot soapy (washing up liquid) water.

Don't resort to abrasives until you've tried a magic sponge. Sponge (normal) applied washing up liquid and water is my opening gambit. After that comes the magic sponge. Just warm water and the magic sponge after the soapy water has been thoroughly rinsed off.

Does it bring the new feel back to it Chris or just clean it

Much depends on the cork and how it has been discoloured. For the effort and cost involved, giving it a try is no brainer. If you keep on top of the muck with a magic sponge, you won't need to resort to abrasives.

I’d say more probably depends on the quality of the cork in the first place.
A lot of off the shelf rods are fitted with very low grade cork heavily filled and it never started out it’s life feeling that good from new anyway.

There’s nothing that can be done other than clean it if that’s the case anyway.

Quality cork will really feel tremendous after the odd buff up.

I have used soap and water with scotch pad ( used lightly ) and they have cleaned up really well.
It was a couple of Torrix specialist I managed to buy at a great price from eBay.👍

What variants did you get them in Adam. I’m also a torrix specialist fan.

There was 3 x 12 ft 1/34 standard Harrison build , 1 x 12 ft 1/34 built by Johnson Ross tackle ( via Gibson I assume.)
1 x 12 ft 2Lb standard Harrison build , 1 x Harrison 12 ft 2.5 lb built by BOB GILL,and 1 x Harrison 12 ft 2 lb built by
BOB GILL.
