Sea fishing goals

I caught this ray from shanklin I.o.w, I didn’t really realise how much of a specimen this actually was at the time. I bagged it from the car park in the corner on half a pouting. I never weighed it, but I reckon it was over 20 lb. what a fish. I’ve showed it to a few seasoned sea anglers and they can’t believe it. It went back to fight another day. I love sea angling for these moments 👍

That Jamie, is a monster shore caught !

Looky here..

Top marks for returning it, it could possibly have been a new shore caught record. I have had a few in the past, but nothing coming even remotley close...

To claim a shore caught record is more trouble than its worth these days , so you can sleep thinking that you have done really well, its all downhill now.

Wow, I had one off of a boat the day before that went 14 lb, and this thing was twice the size. I only used to go there to see my Nan, and used to hit 1up 2 down when the tide was right. I had it in carp gear as well 😂. The man next to me caught a small pouting, I asked him if I could have it, I then cut it in half and whacked the tail on, I was after bass, I wanged it 30 yards and ten minutes later the rod went over

This was the one I caught in the boat. The skipper was part of an undulate tagging program, and it was measured , weighed and tagged then released
What a special fish Jamie. I've not been sea fishing for too many years.
i only ever do it when we go on family holidays. It suits the situation, couple of hours here and there, apart from recently the father in law moved to Portland, so I got Chesil beach to go at

I have had good sized Trigger Fish when bottom fishing off small piers in Madeira, the locals love them, and were begging for it when they saw I was going to return the first one caught.
