Recommend me a Boilie

Give three rivers rolling a call, Glynn Gomersall, he used to make all of the original J Bakers bait and knows a thing or two about barbel bait.
Cheers paul, ime all for trying a different bait.
The 3RB sounds tops,He's based not too far from me so may well pop in there at some point. At the moment I've got five favorite's glugged up that I always take to the river. All been successfull.

I used 3rb boilies and paste back end of last season on the tidal Trent. Caught well too.

No one brand/flavour/colour/shape boilie will work consistently all season on the same stretch of river - In My Opinion of course.

The last few seasons myself and a couple of my fishing mates have been experimenting. For instance early last season bloodworm boilies were dominating most of the catches for the first couple of months. This was fishing them in different swims / stretches alongside different boilies. Fish were caught on other boilies but the percentage of fish coming to the bloodworm was about 80%.

In around September the bloodworm tailed off and and a birdfood boilie was the "flavour" of the month - even more so than the bloodworm!

Again around December a different fishmeal boilie was doing the business - all the way through until March.

My advice is to basically try different types until you find something that works - and by try I don't mean one blank session and then switch baits - chances are you may have blanked anyway regardless of bait but there is definitely a trend forming in our results.

I believe that the fish are looking for different things at different times of the year and therefore will seek out or be instinctively attracted to certain levels of aminos / compounds etc. at those times.

P.S what was working early on the previous season to last was not the same as the consecutive season.

Obviously as there are 3 of us doing the experiment it is a lot easier to gauge the results but we will continue to experiment and see what happens this season.

Hope this all makes sense and as I previously stated this is just my opinion and as I have learned - there are no rules when it comes to fishing - barbel fishing in particular.

I wonder whether the 3RB is the same as the old 3RB and the B~<&z of old? If so was a very good bait.

Crikey, you've ruined my season before it's started. I was going to stick to one variety of pellet and one variety of boilie - with a bit of meat thrown in. :)

Well what about me ? I been buying Krill boilies for weeks ! now after reading some of these posts is all very depressing
Im doomed lol

Lol same here Gerry my freezer is stocked with krill

Totally agree with what Luke says, it took me a few season,s on the same river to pick the the ones I feel confident using.Worth experimenting guys.

Bob i think you will find it is the same bait. Guy Robb and myself will be using one of their baits this season. PS caught loads of Barbel on various rivers using krill baits.

Can vouch for Glyn Gomershall at Arbofield.

Worth looking at his ASAP bait. He will make for you. Did for me.

He can also make some of the specials like Frost and Flood...:D;)

I done really well on Sticky Baits Krill during the 2015 - 2016 season, but last season they were probably the worst of all catch rate wise. Go figure......

P. S

I'm fishing the Loddon and Thames which I would call low stock compared to some of the rivers up north etc. I would imagine that as the stock levels go up - the less my theory "matters".
