Abergele: advice on where to fish?

My wife has booked us a weeks caravaning in Abergele so it would be rude of me not to bring a rod ;)
Has anyone fished the rivers in the area for barbel?
A quick look on google maps throws up the River Clwyd but i can't seem to find much info...

Any advice on where to fish if there is anywhere on a day ticket would be much appreciated?

Regards Jonny

There's a free stretch in Farndon, right bank just above the bridge. About 200m long, ample free parking and easy access to the river. A bit slow moving here though so could struggle for a barbel, I've had chub and sea trout though. Dee Anglers have a lot more barbel type stretches for £20/year but information is limited as their website was still under construction last time I checked and has been for years. Maps are shown though. I got my maps/season ticket from a tackle shop in Chester.

Or better still Johnathen , forget the barbel, and fish the beach at llandulas, for the bass at low tide. Fish when there's a nice surf running , fresh peeler, or rag,or dig the lug yourself. You can park on the front , and walk to your left towards the quarry pier, fish on the beach just before it. Cast to the third breaker , with a simple paternoster rig , 2 to 3 oz lead and let it roll around. Hold your rod , and wait for the wrap round:D

Thanks for the info Gavin, I've just had a look on Dee Anglers and like you said its is still under construction :) its looking like I will leave the Barbel fishing alone as after much googling the good stretches that hold Barbel seem to be season ticket stretches (Warrington Anglers, Bay Malton, Prince Albert etc)

This sounds like a plan Steve and it will work out a lot cheaper which at the moment i'm all for :D i've never done any sea fishing, would i be ok with a rod rated at 2 3/4 tc as its about the heaviest i've got and 10lb line?

Cheers
