Hexagraphs

If you are thinking of ordering a B&W hexagraph, you can opt to order directly from their factory near Peterborough and at the same time chose any custom bits that you want, even the colour. They are a very helpful lot and the gaffer (can't remember his name) will ensure that you have a bespoke rod. Suit you, Sir.

A 'bespoke' rod....is that a bit like a tank aerial rod Jim :D

Cheers, Dave.

You kiddin or what, nearly a grand,as much as id like to i couldnt justify it,nowt to do wi green eyes.It seems to me that whenever a thread is started on the subject of rods it turns into a mundane list of bragging rights and i think this one takes the biscuit

I think what takes the biscuit is people who dig a product which they don't own.

Catch you more fish lol

I would tend to agree with Andy but if that is what floats someones boat so be it....
I have no knowledge on this subject and there is obviously a market but i'm curious as to what I would get for my money that I couldn't purchase for a quarter of the price?

Regards Jonny

I could own one tomorrow but you're missing my point. One of the finest anglers i know uses a 10 year old 50 quid rod with a rawplug taped on as an isotope holder pulling out double figure Barbel regularly, same rod for Big Pike and even Bassing. If im jealous of anything its someones fishing skills not what tack they use.Sorry,i just dont get this tackle tart mallarkey, its about pulling fish out at the end of the day.Anyway i'll leave it at that.

Ower, anyway, you couldn't own one tomorrow as they take about 6 weeks to build. To own a Hexagraph is an experience, it's not just a rod. To delight in holding and gazing at it's power and beauty is something to behold. Part of the experience and pleasure of fishing is the delight in owning a masterpiece of craftsmanship. Anyone can go down to their local piece of water with a twopenny halfpenny rod. Who would you respect the more, someone in a broken down Fiesta or someone with a BMW with all the optional extras? Incidentally, I forgot to mention that B&W can arrange a factory visit for you to chose your rod and discuss your requirements. Sure, this costs a little extra and is built into the price. But so what, most of my clothes come from Jermyn Street and they do cost a little extra and worth every penny. I just wouldn't be seen dead coming out of somewhere like Primark. What would my friends think, I'd never live it down and anyway who would want to rub shoulders with the people who go to such places. I have recently disussed with B&W their possibility of building me a one-off pike fly rod, the exclusivity just appeals and I'm sure that many of you will understand my position. On a number of occasions in the past I have had fellows approach me on the bank admiring my "cane" Hexagraphs. They are quite surprised to learn that they are in fact carbon fibre and cost around £1000 each. The only thing that can compete in terms of ownership are items that are no longer available - I'm thinking of the 5000XTEA. I probably would never use one, but nice to have that exclusivity of owning one.

That's weird Jim, those are the two cars I own. You can have tremendous fun too. Often I turn up at waitrose in the fiesta and as the security guards are about to escort me off the premises, I emerge wearing tweed and carrying the latest copy of Country Life. Totally baffles them. Anyway, all this talk of cane rods just reminds me of school. Suspect I would got more from those early experiences if I had known I was being encouraged to behave differently if I had known a rod of this sort of quality was being applied.

Brilliant.... I suspect the Tweed you wear is made from the finest Irish Tweed and made using hand looms operated by highly skilled weavers producing the very highest quality which baffles them so much.
This thread is starting to remind of a sketch off the fast show

Me, the 13th Duke of Wybourne? Here? In a sixth-form girl's dormitory? At three o'clock in the morning? With my reputation? What were they thinking of?

Hi ,
I am lucky enough to own two matching Hexagraphs, the first one was bought for me for my 40th birthday and the second one I saved up for. I echo exactly the same comments of Jim as the experience of playing any size Barbel on one of these amazing rods with a Pin has to be experienced to be believed there is no other rod design that will give you so much fun and excitement .
I recently carelessly damaged one of them breaking off the top 6” in a bank side bush ! Just had the quote from B&W to replace the top section £310.00 OUCH !!! It’s a lot of money but I can’t bare the fact that it’s broken and unusable and with a 6-8 week repair time, Well at least that will give me a bit of time to save the money up !
