Drennan Power Barbel or Korum Twin Tip?

Im on the lookout for a new Barbel set up and was wondering which of the two above rods you would buy if you were offered both?
The Drennan is the one with the full duplon handle and 1.75/2.00 tips and the Korum is the first version of their twin tip.
They are both for sale at the same price.

I am pondering along the same lines of a reasonably priced twin tip rod,but have the Fox Duolite FX twin tip (1.75 and 2.25) in the mix as well.It will be a stop gap until I can afford a call to Bob Gill.:D
 
if it were for myself i would go for the korum twin tip, i've nothing against drennan rods but i just hate that duplon handle.
 
got two drennans n one korum,prefer the drennans,but its a personal choice,both do the same job.:rolleyes:

Hundred odd quid for a stop gap,id save your money then make that call sooner.
 
I'd agree with Andys comment above RE stop gap rods !
I had a pair of the Drennans and to my mind they are superb rods ! Sold mine to fund the purchase of an I-Power, then sold my other barbel rods to get another ! I don't really regret it (apart from slippery banks in winter which have me a bit nervous around my pride and joy !) but can understand why someone wouldn't want to pay that much.
I'd go for the Drennan, assuming it is second hand ? As these rods have been superseded ! In which case you are unlikely to lose money as they are quite sought after now !

The Drennan rod has been discontinued for a few years, I used to have one and in the hand it is very light and well balanced. I primarily used it on the River Dove to take Barbel to 12lb 10oz and it performed well. Don’t let the duplon handle put you off as they are very easy to clean.
 
i have both rods and i personally prefer the drennan as it has a lovely action and the korum rod is a bit stiffer which i tend to use when the river is in flood.

Well being the owner of a couple of Korum neoteric twin tips I suppose I must be biased:D

I can't comment on the Drennan having never had one but I can say that the Korum is an excellent rod with just the right balance of power and ''give''when playing a fish.

We all suffer occasionally from the inexplicable hook pulls:mad:but they have definitely been reduced since using these rods.I have landed some big barbel this season and the Korums have performed admirably.;)
 
Andy,a Bob Gill twin tip starts off at £310,so to me,a Fox twin tip at a discount price of £110 will give me the facility of a twin tip straight away whilst I save up for what I really want,which will no doubt take me to the end of the season.Sell the Fox later on,job done:).The reason for the twin tip is that travelling from South London to the Wye and back, for a days fishing,I don't want the bother of carrying two rods to cover whatever the river conditions may be.
 
Well the Drennans gone so it looks like it will be the Korum now.
I looked at a Fox and a TFG today too but prefer the Korum.
However, if I can locate a Shimano Beastmaster Concept Power, thats what I will get.
