Shakespeare 15' B1 Specailist float rod

The light tip is the nearest to a light bomb rod that are rare now, ideal for smaller species and comes with white painted tips, the light feeder green.. yuk.

The solitude rods are decent, I tried the Avon version when it first out, didn’t buy it because I have far too many Avons😂, the light quiver is the one I want for roach, chub etc in small streams. I mean, no one can say no to the sexy green blanks.

I spent 2 days with JW at his home in Thailand, only a few months before he passed.
I used his own personal gear which was all Masterline / Rovex - I think they were called Big Boss- spools were half full, rods and reels covered in scales and ground bait, the rod pod fell over every time I had a run
But we caught a lot of big fish and the gear was fantastic , especially considering the average red- tail was 40-50 lbs so it put everything to the test
But I’ve found it’s a similar story with most top anglers I’ve fished with whether it’s pike , barbel, chub, wels catfish or cod and conger off the wrecks

It seems to be an eccentricity for some top fishers. I bumped into a very talented angler on a local lake some years ago as he was trying to catch one of the (to me) tricky carp on dog biscuits in the April sunshine. 'Any good?' I enquired. 'I've had 3 ' he replied. 'you're having a good spring!' says I. 'no mate, 3 today...' he said. Just then a fish started taking his freebies and he went to put his rod together intent on casting to it. Suddenly he stopped what he was doing and started scrabbling around in the grass coming up with a broad-bladed stem of greenery. 'what's that for?' I asked, certain that some secret rig was about to be revealed. 'I need it to stick in the ferrule, it's a bit loose without it'. ....

Got 3 rods , a weigh sling and some bank sticks for about the same price as a takeaway curry for 2.
Perfect for son in law and grandkids who want to go muddy hole fishing and I’m sure I’ll give them a whirl too.

I dipped in again and ordered a solitude tip rod to go with the concept, better spec than the concept apparently, not sure of difference though.

Rod arrived today, OMG, no protection tube, just wrapped by thin plastic bag, and a ring is heavily twisted and missing the insert...apart from this the rod is nice...need to arrange an replacement now.

Is it worth the hassle for the price of it.
Just throw a tenna at it and get the guide changed
 
This is the ring on the butt section, three legs seaguide guide, I am wondering what kind of force can make this happen and, I also assume the blank may have some internal damage that I can’t see?

Annoying, can confirm the packaging and handling is awful, hoped to get someone other than Evri for latest order from Sports Direct but, no. Mine came with the ferrule sticking out the plastic bag. And both rods had the rod bags punctured. Evri really haven't changed at all, the p&p was £9.95 which was not expensive for rods but the very top end of their cost.

Big shout for HoF, really is hassle free exchange. I just hope the new one will arrive in one piece.

But, after further investigation, this may not the evri’s problem? As in the picture, the insert of the ring is missing, if this happened during the shipping, the insert should be in the rod bag, but I can’t find it, so either they sent me a fault rod at first place or Evri damaged the rod before the packing? But why they took the rod out of the rod bag?

My Solitude arrived at last today....but smashed carrier and broken insert guide on butt. Shame such a nice blank. Evri are USELESS.

My exchange arrived yesterday, no damage to the rod this time.

Just drop HoF an email with your order number, item number and a photo of damaged rod, they will send you a new one.
 
This time it was Sports Direct..but will follow same procedure. Pleased you got sorted, those Thames Chevin won't stand a chance.😏
