Big Cat sightings

Ian, as you know, I fished the Thames there and also the Pats at that time.

I had noticed you were checking out my fishing spots.

So, the plan was good one.

First day we arrived in namibia to visit daughter who had just moved there, when daily paper headline was" German tourist killed at Etosha". She said that's where we are going tomorrow. While there at a watering hole two young girls had a car tyre puncture. 4 other cars made a circle, like an Indian attack in westerns, while I was nominated to get out and change the wheel. I can assure all that if a big cat is expected in the immediate vicinity it has a bowel laxative effect which is remembered always. Don't scoff at sightings is my suggestion.Ha.

I do think they're out there, but obviously very few, probably there must be instances of successful litters, but it must be far from successful breeding, watching a you tube video on Big Cats, the evidence was convincing, but there have been captive big cats of various types in this country for hundreds of years, with many escapes, with the food available, they should by now have thriving populations, but yet don't seem to have, or we would have seen far more evidence of kills, ....Wildlife, Livestock, Pets attacked, even people, yet we don't.
I think there are probably various types that may be out there, but don't interbreed very well, and from what I understand mostly any hybrid offspring would likely be infertile.
So I think what rare reports we do hear of are likely the very few that have successfully bred, and had the odd litter, and any that have survived to adulthood have scattered so making it difficult to continue breeding.
I think we'll go on hearing of the odd one here and there for years, but I doubt we'll ever see a thriving population, and if it ever came remotely close, they'd be culling them as soon as they appeared in any number.

Blaze on freeview showed ‘Big Cat Britain Declassified’ yesterday afternoon.
It’s available on catch-up if you have the app downloaded if anyone’s interested.

It’s definitely not a domestic cat, judging from the fur. The photo was taken in an abandoned church (I think it is) on the boarder of a natural park, I was trying to get closer, but it spotted me and run into the forest. I actually spent the rest of the closed season in that park try to find it.
Your a brave man Huanzhou, i'd of been going the other way. 😬

Catfish to around 40lb have definitely been caught from the Ouse at Paxton, on the Shefford water. They have been lost below Bedford. These were seen by an individual and the EA turned up to trap them, but failed. https://www.facebook.com/OuseFishEA/videos/great-ouse-catfish/576985342767031/
Chris, there was a near 100lb catfish caught on Severn Tewkesbury a few years back by a Barbel angler Neil Jones? He bought his night permit from BAA., can you imagine his shock in slipping his net under that?

Well so many stories but still no photographs that are convincing let alone a specimen that had been capture dead or alive.
I would think farmers being out and about would be a rich source for sightings.
My small contribution is on several occasions near the avon finding parts of deer carcass which could be scavenging fox on road kill.
DNA proof would convince me but these claims lack merit as they are on click bait sites it seems.
I back on to open farmland and see Deer Hare etc and use a wildlife camera I will report on here if....

The farmers don't want the publicity. They'll deal with the problem if proving problematical with livestock. I've recently been told of sightings on the more remote parts of the Yorkshire Derwent. Following this thread earlier in the year I've researched the sightings. It seems to me, that there are too many genuine sources of sightings, for it to be one big hoax. I read a few months ago that a young puma was found dead on a major road in rural north Wales. Small breeding population? Why not?

Hi Andy
Any evidence other than reported sightings of both alive or dead would be helpful. Similar to alien sightings intriguing, but as yet no hard and fast proof of anything really, although some very intriguing footage and testimony, but none that is convincing a sceptic.
I am sceptical I have no reason to be otherwise

Hi Neil.
Following a bit of research there appears to be compelling evidence. Scats, DNA evidence, plaster casts of big felines paws (not dogs), dead feline skins, road kill evidence and very credible witness statements including from veterinary surgeons 👍.

I find all these type of topics of the unexplained/mysterious absolutely fascinating …we’re not even really sure what’s out their in our own local countryside let alone places like the wilderness in America, the universe and depths of the sea! Topics like this, Bigfoot, aliens etc m definitely in the ‘I want to believe’ camp 🛸👣
