I've stopped going out now unless we get a decent mild spell. Last winter I still went out once a week regardless of the weather / temperature. Anybody still out in this cold?
I'm thinking of starting a "small" pre-baiting campaign in the run up to the new season.
Now I'm not talking piling in kilos of bait - just a few handfuls in maybe 3 - 4 swims a couple of times a week.
I usually use a fishmeal boilie as a hookbait - which are expensive at £12 a kilo but...
First time I've done the midnight start as I've just joined a club that allows 24 hour fishing.

I used to use Korda Kurve Shank in a size 8 for boilie fishing and seemed to always get a decent hook hold and pick up most my bites. After reading various articles etc. I changed to size 8 Drennan Barbel hooks (which are smaller), and don’t seem to be hitting as many bites. I’m going to go...
I've never had much luck catching while it's actually raining.
The last 2 sessions iv'e done in the rain - I have had a fish about 15 minutes after the rain has stopped each time.
This has got me thinking that maybe the rain hitting the water puts them off a little bit as it might...
