Winter gloves

I'm not quite sure how to start this thread without ridicule or embarassing questions asked, but here goes. Some time ago, I started to use latex examination gloves (you know, the ones for fondling patients) and put them on when eating sandwiches etc. I didn't fancy Weil's disease etc. What I've found is that they make quite good gloves for keeping the cold out. They are not brilliant, but if it is a bit nippy, do the job. An added advantage is the sensitivity aspect and you don't have to take them off when handling tackle, which brings me on to another point, having a pee can be quite an exciting experience, with a little imagination.

I can 2nd that Jim ;)

i used the very same type of gloves the other night for the first time,

i have now stocked up with a few more pairs :D:D

I suffer from eczema on my hands and wetting and drying make it worse. I also think I'm allergic to hallibut oil, so I've used these gloves when mixing a job lot of attractants for my cage feeders.

Jim did you know you can buy them individually wrapped so you can just put them on a couple of fingers while you eat your sarnie leaving your other fingers free and fully sensitive to handle your tackle and any fish you may catch.. Not quite as warm but then my coat has pockets. I prefer to use the sanitising gel (no on my hands you fool ) but it pays to let it dry before having a pee.
Did you get my text about the flavour for for your meat. oops there I go again. Sorry. If you want some flavour give me a ring.

Not tried it myself but I'm sure it was posted on the old BFW boards that for winter insulation to try a layer of Vaseline on the hands then a pair of latex gloves.

Hmmm... thinking about it now this might have been a joke though - we had some fun back in the old Yuku days... :p

Cheers Scaz, we've talked about the gel and it is a great combination with the gloves!! And I really like the idea of eating sarnies and being able to handle your tackle at the same time. In all seriousness, might be worth you posting your sources of gel as I remember that you know some cheap sources.

So...you are turned on by these latex gloves, especially when handling your tackle, and yet you are wondering about Scaz's source of gel :eek::rolleyes:

Might I suggest that you continue to handle your tackle while wearing the gloves, and the solution may become evident :p

Cheers, Dave :D

Where the hell is this thread heading LOL Jim I got the cheap gel from Home Bargains but the pound shop on Market Street sells it too.
On a serious note though it is well worth taking some sort of precaution ( Stop it we're being serious) I've in the past two years met to chaps that very very nearly lost there life through the dreaded Weal's Disease and there stories were very alarming to say the least. So no more joking from me and what ever it takes to protect our self's against the disease we should take.

Oooh!

The reference to Vaseline, isn't a wind up.Keith Arthur is always banging on about the benefit of Vaseline rubbed really well into your hands being a trusted barrier to the cold. With the addition of latex gloves, the green ones that Transco(gas board) guys use,are ideal at keeping the cold at bay, whilst still giving necessary "feel" when tackling up etc.The only other thing that works to a degree is fingerless neoprene gloves.Several tackle companies do them,or you can get a cheap Lidl/Aldi pair of regular neoprenes and cut the fingers off.
Regards
Pete;)

Well, swimmers plaster themselves with the stuff when swimming the Channel.

Gents, a good source for gloves, and other safety/waterproof ware, is Arco. They have branches nationwide - http://www.arco.co.uk/browse/Gloves...BV_EngineID=cccfadelmmfddghcflgcefkdfggdffi.0

I bought some Trojan Hydros for work but now use them for fishing as they are waterproof. They are good gloves. They also do the latex and vinyl gloves that some were refering too. I don't get mine from here though as I use them in bulk quantities in my daily work and I have found them cheaper online. Not too sure about the thermal qualities of latex gloves, when I have worn them for doing things outside I have found that once you get a layer of moisture inside them your hands freeze. Think I'll stick to the trojans.
