When?

although i understand how and why both moonphaze and air pressure and other sciences affect fish and fishing ,and know people who do well by fishing too them ,i don't because ,i'm purley a gut instinct kind of guy and use experiance and science as supplemental too this .

i only stop too think if its a full moon or not and where in the sky it is ,too avoid reflections on the waters surface if i can ,but have often fished with the moonlight on the water and caught ,because if i feel its a good swim then i'll fish it .

I go when ever i can so i don't worry about the moon but i will say i cannot ever remember catching a barbel when we have a really bright full moon................ or in the fog.

Fog/heavy mist mostly kills sessions for me too. Strange that.

When I lived on the East Coast we often got fog in cold east winds. It would often kill the fishing stone dead, especially on stillwaters, even deep gravel pits.

Just a thought on the effects of fog/mist. Both of these have a muffling affect on background noise. Perhaps this enables the fish to pick up the noise of anglers in close proximity far more easily than they would normally, hence the lack of bites.
