what mid sized baitruner on a budget

Looking at getting some mid sized baitrunners was thinking of okumas because of the cheaper price than shimano but are they as good and do they last your thoughts please thanks Alan.:)

the cheaper end rear drag shimano's have a poor clutch compared to the front drag okuma baitrunner . If price is the issue go for the okuma

After 10 years of regular usage one of my Okuma IBF 40's gave up on Saturday, in a decade they've never once been cleaned greased or the like and thrown in anger into bushes etc so many times I dread to think.

Thirty five quid for the pair, IMO Okumas offer unequalled value for money.:)

Also they have an absolute top notch smooth clutch.:)

I'll probably get hung out to dry on this one! You could get the Fox Stratos FS7000 from Cemex for £30. You do need to be a Cemex member (or know one). The offer was on for months, don't know if they are still available.

Get yourself a Shimano DL4000RA. Been using a couple for the past three months and have been impressed with the build quality and front drag. Mind you it's early days. Picked mine up for £60 each.
Before that I had a pair of Stratos FA7000. Both reels developed faults within a seasons heavy fishing.

£30.00, far to much...:p

Okumas. Good reels - I have an interceptor which is fantastic and cost me £20 from the classifieds here.

I've also got a Shakespeare something that I picked up really cheap about 3 or 4 years ago. Still going really strong - had some big fish on it including some good Barbel. Clutch is ok...

Thanks for your replys just managed to get 3 GTE 6000 and and 4 spare spools for £122 posted always did prefer the old school black. Recently bought a 4000 dl front drag although a nice reel felt a little under gunned casting over 4 ounces on the trent.

I have used a Daiwa Regal BRI for about 5 years and it has never let me down. I also have a Shimano 3500b bought on ebay that is built to last - lovely reel.

I know you are sorted now but has anyone seen or used the Korum Kxi 60???

Alan, I have tried others, but my 5000GTE's are superb reels ! Good choice I'd say (especially considering the venue !).
