What landing net?

The thread title - a
touch of nostalgia for the elder statesmen of BFW :D

I did tidy some stuff just now, and I do ask myself why six? :)

Clockwise from bottom left (the angle of the photo seems to affect the apparent sizes of the nets)

36" Keenets (?)
36" Solar Plus (?)
42" Keenets
32" Chris Brown Barbel & Chub
36" Chris Brown Tench & Carp Stalker
30" Bait78 (purchase in '78 and still in good nick

Yeah they certainly better from a travel and storage point of view.
I’ve got 4 nets including triangles, spoons and one that resembles a bit of both. Let’s call it a Troon!
Not sure really which I like as they all have goods and bads. Spoon certainly makes life a little easier with a long fish I’d say but then triangles especially when deep are better rest up nets.

Gardner Tackle Barbel Specialist Pan Landing Net.
£20 and can push it through weed due to the rim and rest fish in it without problems but doesn't fold up so sits in the unhooking mat/bag with the chair

Paul - any recommendations for a (deepish) 36" net?

If I "lost" all of mine I'd get another Chris Brown 36" (with 'pins' in the spreader block and sleeves in the arms). This is advertised as a Tench & Carp Stalker net not Barbel net.

My net (I assume Chris still makes it the same) is 36"

I also have the 32" Barbel & Chub net (pins in arms, holes in spreader)

This one's net depth is 30"

Thanks Luke - I should have mentioned I'm after a triangular net. Sorry. I already have a nice, deep Greys oval net.

You've just inspired me Paul. It's one item of my tackle that I've not always been happy with. Landing nets have always been such a compromise. The Chris Brown nets have been on the radar for some time. I'm taking the plunge.

Chris Brown tackle comes with a lifetime guarantee!!! I use Chris Brown tackle nets (carp and barbel) and bank sticks, buzzer bars and Parallel Bars. If your a tackle tart don't buy Chris Brown but if you want something that will last for years then you won't be disappointed.👍 https://www.cbproducts.co.uk/

They do make excellent products, I’ve got the barbel and chub net (pins in net arms), mine measures 34” exactly though? It also has a twist lock handle which feels nearly as light as the Drennan twist lock but nearly as strong as the Gardner, but looking at the website they don’t seem to offer that handle as an option anymore. I bought mine second hand so don’t know the exact model.

And whilst it’s hard to get excited about a bankstick, they are very well built, super strong and light. I’ve been tempted by the buzzer bars for a while now to replace the heavier solar ones on my tench set-up, it’s just the lack of adjustment that has put me off as I often like to have my rods fanned out.

Joe there is some adjustment on the buzzer bars by moving your alarm/butt rest to another drilled hole.

I think with all nets where the spreader and the arms/frame are separable, people should consider a fail safe where by should the two become separated at the wrong time, (fish in net) you can still hang on to your catch.
Don’t say “it won’t happen”
It’s not a nice experience and I was lucky enough to retrieve my fish and save it from the jaws of death but it cost me a pair of wet legs.
Had it been carrying extra water I’d of had to let it go.
