What is Nod oil?

Afternoon all,

What is Nod oil? I have looked around for info which has been somewhat conflicting. I was of the position that it's simply Cod Liver Oil (repackaged) but I had a conversation recently with another angler whom was convinced that it's Hemp oil! Any expansion on this would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Jon

Probably doesn't clear much up as it's hardly conclusive.

From the first link, 2nd page:

"Yea cod liver (nodd) oil is light coloured and not really smelly"

From that, I would deduce that it is cod liver oil.

But don't believe everything you read on the internet. :)

Cheers for the replies - it's pretty much what I thought too. I used Premier's nod oil with peach melba in one of their fish mixes in the late 80s & use now use CLO bought from agricultural stores. I was pretty sure but the aforementioned angler was adamant it was hemp oil (which I have not used) hence creating my uncertainty!

CLO - a good oil all round, but is a better cold(ish) water oil to use than others - so I understand.

Cheers, Jon

Nod oil is just a blended fish oil, If I remember correctly....I think it is a proprietary name. If you look at Starmer Baits products you will find it, although many years ago, as you say, it could be found elsewhere.

Cheers, Dave.

nodd oil was late 80s premier baits they still make baits including nodd oil
as david g said above its a blended fish oil
link and description from site below

http://www.premierbaits.net/search_results.asp?section=108

nodd oil description
"Superior human grade bulk fish oil which is perfect for winter use because it emulsifies well in cold water conditions. The general benefits of a quality bulk fish oil are that they contain a fat/lipid source which is deficient in food found in a lake, they help Carp repair damaged tissue quickly and are a good energy source"

Thanks lads for the clarifications & satisfied with that.

Slightly curious as to what the blend might be - possibly Salmon oil, Cod Liver Oil & Wheat Germ Oil...

Cheers, Jon
