What do you use?

I have read with interest threads outlining reducing the amount of tackle/'rubbish' we have the habit of dragging along the bank and the various types of rucksacks/carryalls/shoulder bags/pockets contributors use and being guilty of such crimes I have resolved to reduce my kit for the coming season (as I have in the past without much success).

The theory is fine but I start to falter as soon as I start looking at storing/carrying terminal tackle. Hooks, swivels, beads, trace materials, artificial baits, scissors, shot, a few floats, baiting needles/bait drills, PVA spare batteries etc all seem to need storage which take up valuable space. This is all before I start to look at camera, tripod, scales, flask etc.

What do you use? Have you found the ultimate tackle box? All suggestions appreciated.

Les, i reduce all the tackle i take by leaving any excess gear i wont need in the car boot, by this i mean just take around 6 leads, the rest of my bits i need fits very comfortably into a tiny stovebag about 3"x3"x3", the bulky stuff is usually frood and drink and bait, the less tackle i expect to need usually results in me needing more food and drink for a long quiet wait.

Les,
I've just come to the same conclusion as you and have decided to reduce the amount of rubbish I take with me which means it takes me about 3 trips from car to peg.First step was to buy a Korum Ruckbag which I got yesterday, decided to get the standard sized one and then slim down what I take with me.
Will try it out on a forthcoming overnighter and report back how it went.

Korum Ruckbag (great side pouch for flask), Korum Maxi Rig Manager (great bit of kit) and a medium soft box (leads, feeders and alarms if required) carries pretty much all I need.

Bulk is food and bait.

Iv'e reduced the tackle i take but still carry a Korum tackle and bait bag, too large for the amount of tackle i take but need it for clothing. 4.30 am even on a June morning gets a little chilly ,by 10.00am off comes the coat into the bag, 12.30 the jumper comes off ,into the bag. By then the bags full of clothing and flask and not a lot of tackle. Usually too far from the car to keep popping back. Looking for a water proof coat ,just a shell so it will pack very small.any ideas?

Got mine down to this. Left hand pocket couple of mini rig bins and a couple of tubs hook baits, right hand pocket lead case. Front pocket small tackle boxes etc, base pocket sling and scales. Polaroids, head torch, tickets in the zipp up waterproof pocket inside the top. Leaves all the main compartment for camera, flask, lightweight poncho and bait. Rod, net and single bankstick velcro strapped together and sit on my unhooking matt or stick it in my chair.

Wow Guys what a response. Thanks for all the useful ideas, this has certainly got the grey matter kick started again. Jeremy special thanks to you for taking all the trouble to show me your storage, much appreciated. Les

If i am just roving hardly anything, if it doesnt fit in a bucket its not coming, i generally use my car as a base if i may need some extra kit. For the Trent i can get away with the korum ruckbag and the light weight chair on my back. The ruckbag is like a tardis, even in winter i can get 2 thermal coats, a flask and everything i need for a session. In my hand i carry a sensas bucket with my bait, stove, pan and anything i fancy. If i am on a overnighter and need some extra kit, i simply use the lightweight chair with the wheel kit. if you cannot get everything on that, then this thread will certainly help.

I have now reduced down to a bucket for my bait and a few large items.Fly fishing waistcoat for hooks, leads, assorted terminal tackle, 2 rod quiver which holds my one rod plus net and poncho. Lastly my Fox stalker chair with unhooking mat secured by bungees straps. Leave a supply of extras in the car should I need anything but never have yet.
