A group of us weigh all fish we catch on our stretch as we are participating in an Environment Agency barbel study. We record; River, Venue, Date, time spent fishing, Weight (lbs & oz) length (cm), river height & color, weather, comments/observation and other fish.

At the end of the season the data will go back to the EA for analysis and a report issued.

One of our stretches was subject to a £40,000 habitat improvement scheme carried out in March 2013 so the EA are obviously keen to track progress.

Same as Pete. They are few and far between on the Tees.
I didn't bother on the Wye as there was nothing that looked special enough to warrant it.

Apologies my post should have read:

£40,000 habitat improvement scheme carried out in [March 2012/B]

So we are in the second season since the habitat improvement. The EA have recently carried out fry and invertebrate surveys.

Yes i weigh all my fish, i remember weighing the last one back in the 2010 season if my memory serves me correct:eek:

Just the biggies or interesting ones as it's too much of a faff.

weigh in of fish

only weigh fish close to a double as a rule;)

If I think it's a special fish for me (although all fish are special) I will weigh, photograph and return. Otherwise it's unhook in the net and get back in the water as quickly as possible.

Will only generally weigh fish that I think are a double or maybe a pb for a particular river. Don't see the sense in causing them unnecessary stress and like to get them back as soon as.

Just no sense of fun Kev :D Every fish a friend of mine has is a double, and he has no need of scales to tell him that, accurate or not :p

Cheers, Dave.

I only tend to weigh the biggies - it's also nice to get a few photos as well. Talking of which - I really wish digital cameras had been about forty years ago, I've got so many great fishing memories and very few pictures to back them up.
