Water used to boil baits

For those of you who make your own baits I was wondering if you have used the water you have boiled them in to soak and cook your hemp/particles?

Its something I have been doing for some time, while I have not noticed any differences in my catches I can’t see it doing any harm.

What I would like to know is by doing so are you adding any flavor or nutrients?
The latter I have always doubted as by boiling you are damaging the nutrients within the bait so it stands to reason the water will contain very little if any usable nutrients.

I would be interested in your thoughts.

Tom,

Yup, when I make baits that's what I do....I also boil my baits up in the water I drain off my hempseed after cooking ;)

Not sure if it helps either way really?? but surely can't do any harm at all....

That was my little edge I was not going to mention! :D

Went through a 'keen' stage where I would only boil my boilies, hemp or whatever in water from the lake I was fishing (to avoid contamination by the chemicals added to tap water)...and yes, I then used that water to add to grounbait etc. Again, I was never clear if it did improve my catches, but I enjoyed it anyway :D

Just wish I could whip up some of that type of enthusiasm nowadays

Cheers, Dave.
