Wanted - John Wilson Heritage Young's centrepin

Steve Lewis

Senior Member
As if breaking my Wilson 10ft quiver rod wasn't enough, I've today discovered that my Heritage 'pin has a huge crack going through most of the backplate. Chuff knows how it happened, as I thought the thing was bombproof and I used it earlier in the year at the end of last season and it was fine.

So I now need a replacement.

Looking to pay a sensible price for a used one - doesn't have to be in museum condition, and I'm not in the least bit fussed about presentation boxes or certificates (I'm a user, not a collector), as long as it's in full working order with no wobble.

Holler if you can help.

Thanks.

Hey Steve that's pants. I have a heritage (sorry not for sale) but posting to question can it not be repaired? Does it Not still spin? Hope you get sorted either way. Cheek eBay I was watching a heritage on there at £150 or best offer not sure if the still available? Cheers Jon

Thanks Jon - I am keeping tabs on the bay.

I suspect it isn't fixable - there is actually some play in the two nearly separate parts of the backplate and there is also some rubbing/scraping along part of the edge. At best I think it'll be a new backplate, which on casual investigation will be an easy hundred plus with fixing, at which point I may as well hold out for a "new" one.

Not a great advert for youngs. Worried about mine now ! I'd have a look around as plenty off quality pins around to

No, I honestly think something fairly heavy duty has happened to it as it looks like something very specific has damaged it rather than it just being damage due to poor parts or workmanship, if that makes sense. I don't remember dropping it, but it's befallen some form of mystery trauma.

It's my favourite trotting reel and I can't imagine being without it.
