VHS / dvd

Hi men

Sort of barbel related , as we have tapes with them on 😁. We have many VHS tapes in the loft and really should put them onto dvd . I'd rather do it myself so I can edit out stuff . Looking online at combo machines it's a bit of a minefield of second hand stuff . I have a few tapes with fishing on it barbel / chub , so it would be nice to show the grandkids as Sue is an OAP tomorrow 😲😁 , anyone gone down this route ?.

Cheers Hatter

Have you still got a vhs player, Hatter? If you have and it’s got RCA outputs (the little circular red, white and yellow ports), then you just need a 3RCA to USB and some software on a PC. Or you can buy the cables & software together

Once you’ve got the files transferred to your PC, you can burn them to DVDs, the software above might even have the functionality to do that. Handbrake is a nice, user friendly bit of software, if not.

As Simon said, once you’ve got the files, uploading them to a private YouTube channel is probably the easiest way to keep them. Most modern TVs will accept a usb stick too, but easy to misplace!

Not sure if there are any other ways, I helped some parents of a pal of mine do the same with their wedding VHS a couple of years back. Gave same advice as above and assume it worked…

Will this work with Danish and Dutch VHS tapes from the early 90's?

As a last resort, theres a shop in Liverpool that transfers VHS tapes onto any media you want, ( so no need to buy a VHS player ), i.e. on to DVD or memory sticks. If you trust me 😁 you could send me them and i could visit the shop for you. 👍

Hi men

Thanks fellas , only want to do it myself to edit out the stuff that used to be taped pre digital 😂.
