Usk and Wye foundation-river access

I recently fished the Lower Ballingham beat and found the banks massively overgrown to such an extent that access could only be made comofrtably at one point and at a struggle at one more point.

Have others found such access issues on other stretches of the U&W foundation waters.

By the way,I am a pretty hardy fisherman and not expecting pristine ready prepared swims but do draw the line at thick brambles and 6ft nettles!

I fished Caradoc recenetly and access is perfect, you can drive the whole length and cattle in the field means the grass is very short. I haven't fished any others.

Sounds like I was just unlucky picking a stretch that was massively overgrown.

Ray Mears would have been in his element and I swear I saw a tribe of pygmies and a herd of wildebeest at one point!!

I have fished }
Middle Hill Court
Holme Lacey 3
Caradoc
Lower Carrots & Luugs Mouth
Backney

All of the above have good access and good bank access

When I fished Backney a couple of weeks ago it was very overgrown from the hut all the way along to the main field alongside the river. You could get down to the Croys but all along the connecting path was not easy.

Saying that, Backney will not be on the W @ Usk List next season.

i like it like that, i wish so many river banks were not made to look like canals, have a cut down in a swim just enough.

I can only repeat what I was told by someone who said they knew.

The Landowner has 22 guests/friends with tickets and they can take a guest each.

He is extremely well off, in fact all credit to him, all the W and Usk monies earned went to a Blind charity of his choice.

The W and Usk did get some comments from people that undestood they had the water exclusively, but it was not so due Landowners friends.

I understand he can't be bothered allegedly.

and No Micky, I wish!

Was backney ever truly a wye and Usk
Water with the owner issuing
25 permits to friends who are then
allowed to bring two guests each?
That is potentially a lot of anglers.
Or do all wye and Usk waters operate the same way
