Hi all,

A member has had his account hacked (password guessed). The result was a couple of Eel threads/posts posted by the 'hacker'.

These posts have now been removed and the password on the account updated.

Please make sure you have a strong password in place. You can change yourself password in your 'User CP'.

Thanks,

Andy

Sound like another idiot trying to spoil it for the member and the rest of us. I always choose a password unrelated to the website's subject.

Hi men ,

I suppose someone gets enjoyment out of sitting there trying to guess a password , get logged into a friendly fishing site , then pretend to be someone they are not . Personally i think they could spend their time more wisely , not trying to compensate for lack of size of part of their body ! . But it passes the time

Not only making false claims about barbel catches on the Severn, but in the close season too, AND hacking another members account to do it....you couldn't make it up!!

Hope the culprit is found Andy.

Passwords

I know many who like to use an easily remembered password, or even use the same password for everything. In many cases it may not be a problem.

But people have had passwords guessed (by saddos) and there is always grief that follows.

Here is some advice, and yes I may be sad myself :) but this is what I do :

1. Use a different password for every site - I have currently 350 passwords (yes I said I was sad)

2. Obviously I cannot remember all of these so I keep them on a text file on a flash memory stick NOT on a computer - note that "banking" passwords are NOT kept in this file

3. Choose a random password, it'll never be guessed

4. I use an online random password generator - it's easy peasy honest :)

click on this link

picture.php

Select options required - length probably 8 chars ok (I use 12), include punctuation (safer), quantity = 20

click the "generate passwords" button and you'll get 20

From this list you can choose one that you think will be easy to input to you computer (copy / paste) or your mobile phone (where you'll have to type it)

Copy also to your text file!!
