Touch legering and rolling baits

Rolling pin MK1, I personally would have no issues buying one in 2025.

No idea how many were sold but I don't recall many coming back in for repair to the reel seat mech. Even Rays own personal reels which were well used judging by the state of them when he sent them in for a clean, I don't recall fixing the reel seat.

I think more people complained of line twist when using mono than any issues with the rotating reel seat.
Mark that’s good to know, In your opinion would you say that the mk1 and mk2 reels are a good option then? I also thought that you get line twist because pins obviously don’t have a bail arm to take the the line twist out? And that the use of braid makes the line twist less noticeable albeit just the same as mono? Mate

If I struck every time it stopped, i'd be getting through several tins a session. Stopping is a good thing....
Yes stoping and starting is a good thing I often get a take just as the bait starts moving again either with the flow or a little tug of the line to set it moving again I’ll also leave it stationary for a good few minutes sometimes I think it’s a bit like a cat with a cat toy sometimes as they may well be looking at it and as it starts moving the fish have to make a decision as to whether to take it, or leave it.

I don't recall seeing much of the MK2, my memory is fuzzy of that time but I'm sure the MK2 came in after the business was taken over by Masterline and moved out of Redditch. The reels look very similar apart from the reel seat mech.

Still very nice reels.

Hi all,

What's everyone's set up for touch legering and rolling baits?

You're gonna want a light rod if holding it all session so what are people using? Light Avon rods or even maybe power float rods?

Reels? Is something around the 2500 sized more than enough? Enough to hold 100m of 10lb line at most? Or a pin?

This season I think I'm going to challenge myself to only try this way of fishing or even if I'm putting a static rod out I was going to only fish with pins which means down the edge since my casting is non existent with a pin. And to spend a lot less time in a peg before moving on, the exact opposite to how I fished last year which resulted in a very poor year for me.
Just spotted this on ebay with regards to a Rolling rod that I think comes recommended to use....
