I use short 4" hook lengths on my Preston flat feeders on still waters. What length do you all use in likes of Severn whilst method feedering...? Do you bury hook bait in g/bait...?

Why would you think that, Jon? I've used the Preston flat method feeders on still waters — the feeder is held in place by the swivel, but it's only stiff enough to stay in place during the cast, it falls out easily and usually the take is enough to dislodge it. Seems pretty safe to me.In a nutshell steer clear of method feeders for barbel, unless you can guarantee it being 100percent safe. I personally haven't seen a 100 percent safe rig yet. I would also find it very unpleasant to see a barbel with a 4 oz lead hanging from it's bottom lip.
