no really!

I have to say joining here last year and getting advice off other members of where to try and tactics and also reading through lots of posts I caught more barbel last year then i have caught all my life in total!
just itching for the weather to change to get a last couple of trips in before the close season

cracking forum

thanks:)

Some of us who have been around for years get a little jaded when all the simple stuff (what landing net etc) comes up time after time after tedious time; but a post like this puts everything into perspective.
It's not really my place to say it but I'm glad you got found it helpful.

I wholeheartedly agree Simon...On the whole the forum is great and I've picked up a number of good wheezes from the more experienced sages and the forum has had me thinking outside the box for myself on more than one occassion...Thanks to all that impart their wisdom..:)

As someone who has been part of BFW for a long time(!), and who fishes much less now than I did a couple of years ago (due to kids and otters!), it's fantastic to read a post from someone who has been genuinely helped by the site, and who is catching more than they ever have.

Where are your from Simon, I'm on my way....!

I would like to echo what Simon has posted. I came back to angling after a 4 year break, and it had been some time since I had targeted Barbel. I knew virtually nothing about a lot of the new stuff. I think I have managed to combine the new with the old, and I have gone from not catching, to catching fairly regularly on a tough river. There is stuff a lot of you take for granted that was unknown to the likes of me. For example I saw no reason not to feed a good few oily pellets in the cold. Now I have my own special cold water feed mix. I also now have more confidence in the simple combi rigs I tie, than the shop bought braid or flurocarbon rigs I used in the past.
My thanks
Shaun
