Thamesley Baitdroppers

Can you still buy the plastic Thamesley Baitdroppers?

I notice in this months CAT that Stef Horrack has just bought what appears to be a job lot, so where can you get them?

Neil

Hi Neil,

I understand that Dinsmore are producing baitdroppers almost identical to the Thamesley.

It may pay to give J and K tackle a call.

I know one of my pals has stocked up with a few as well so they are definitely about.

Steve.

I'd love to stock these (or something like them) in the BFW Shop. I can see any on the Dinsmores site, though maybe it's out of date.

Does anyone know who Thamesley distribute through?

Thanks,

Andy F

Andy,

Thamesleys are out of production, my pal who I mentioned above looked into taking it on but after doing the sums decided against it.

The Dinsmore dropper is new, but by all accounts fits the bill perfectly.

Steve.

Steve - Thanks for that, I checked but they do not stock them at J & K.

Andy - I contacted Dinsmore who confirmed they do a plastic dropper. I've PM'd you the contact e-mail, if interested in stocking them? If you do, I will buy some from you.

Neil

Hi Adam,

We would certainly struggle with that one!

Pictures and a full review and plenty more up on my website some time tomorrow if you're interested.

Steve

You could always make your own, I have loads of different ones ranging in size from a giant 1 pint job made from a tin which once held Ye Old Oak Ham, (other brands are available) which I deliver on the end of a landing net handle, right down to match box sized ones made from the base of plastic bottles or aerosol caps. When I remember I paint them with matt black paint but tbh I don't think its necessary.

I normally attach the weight to the body of the dropper as per the Fred Crouch ones, I find it helps with the opening of them, particularly with the smaller models.

The best ones are made from pilchard tins, they are very light and if you overcast they will skip over the surface to allow you to drag them back to where you want them to fall, this allows for very accurate baiting.
My favourite of all is not the best but the first I ever used. It was given to me by an old friend now departed, it's made from a tea strainer, I've had it for about 20 years and it goes everywhere with me.

Don't you guys like the Seymo droppers? I've got a couple and they seem fine to me!

These are made in the UK, surprise, surprise. Just watch where you attach your line to the dropper as the attachment can pull out on the earlier models. I mentioned this to "Seymo" and they replaced the dropper, sent catalogues etc, top notch outfit.

I had this happen Jim. 7 quids worth of dropper sat on the river bed after one cast!

I haven't ordered the Dinsmore droppers yet as they need a fairly large initial order to open an account. I'll get on with it during the next week I hope...

Sorry about the delay.

Hi Andy, same problem exactly. There was a fault with them and they will replace it. They are a decent outfit and deserve the business they get.
