Terry Eustace passed away.

You only ever needed to buy one of these.

Sad to hear. Was a great bloke with no pretensions & did a lot of helpful writing on his favourite species.
Pleased to have a couple of his rods I still use a lot.

I remember something he wrote stating he sourced/produced tackle primarily for his own use so he had complete confidence in what he was using….and it certainly was quality gear!
He once said how he wasn't popular with the blank producers because he would reject many blanks for not being completely straight. Very fussy and it showed in the quality of his rods.

Terry Eustace Carp Angler extraordinaire, tool maker, fishing rod designer and fishing rod builder has died.

I first met Terry way back when I was 14 or 15 years old, back in the days when I'd newly discovered carp fishing on the Birmingham park pools, with other anglers like Terry, ie Jim Burke, Terry Dinsmore, Peter Rayment, Trevor Peat, Ron Felton and others of the specimen angler and specimen group era in Birmingham I learnt fast.

They became my tutors, I soon learned my craft, but they being much older than me, I'm sure I became a nuisance to them in those early years, I was the kid that asked too many questions, too much of the time, I was forever picking their brains, but they were all generous in sharing there knowledge, especially Terry.

Terry became a successful fishing tackle company/shop owner, with Gold Label being a true international brand, Terry was a laugh a minute his droll joke telling was legendry, he was very generous to me in my early years, he netted my first double figured carp from Ward End park in Birmingham at 14lb 2 oz, it was a worthy fish back in 1968, he also told me about the monster eels that resided in the various Birmingham pools.

Rest in peace Tel, I hope you meet up with our old mates Jim Burke and Ron Felton in the heavenly world of angling, sleep well, rest up and thanks for the memories.
