stuck pole joints

Sorry gents I know it's a bit off topic but got two pole joints stuck fishing in the rain on Thursday. any good tips on how to separate them ? Have tried heating with hair dryer and also cooling with ice to no avail ? Thanks.

You need 3 people the ones each end dont pull at all they just pretend its a skipping rope and go in a circle you get at the joint and put a gentle steady pressure at some point in the ark it will simply slide off easy hope this makes sense?
hard to explain easy to do
other way you need Silicone Oven Grab pads from poundland these grip the rod and you can twist it

I tried the skipping rope method Gerry and ended up with two broken pole sections !! Guess we didn't do it right ! Ho hum, looking for replacements now.

NO NO NO!!!!!!:eek::eek: never ever twist, you need 2 people to hold the pole, and pull gently WITHOUT TWISTING, just a straight gentle pull, whilst "gently" patting with you hand near the joint. After 10 seconds, both stop, and both give the pole a quarter turn, again, both pull straight and pat near the joint, keep repeating and it will come apart. :)

Blimey Cliff so sorry to hear that Ive used that method a couple of times and also helped others without any problems

And Derek just to clarify !
I said put a steady pressure ! with that skipping rope method method

the 2nd method using 2 bits on silicone to grip and twist the joint undone I have used when I have been alone with a stuck joint on the bank in fact I carry 2 bits in my tackle bag done that several times too

I used a bit of very fine 1200 grade wet & dry paper for years which worked fine ,..nowadays I just carry a couple of inner tube off-cuts which won't risk dulling the varnish.

No problem Gerry, my fault, too heavy handed I guess. The joints were well and truly stuck so not sure they were coming apart.
