Spider Photo

Could some one please identify this for me, It is between an 1 1/2 inches and 2 inches long. I am not scared at all by them but this mini beast caught my eye and looked quite menacing IMO.
I have been told its the Mothercare spider, but it seems too big for the species.

The Mother-in-law species - it's white grimacing pattern on its back that contorts when anything happens to the contrary...

Cheers Chris it was bugging me Pardon the Pun. Then again the one i saw was a good 30mm long compared to some in the photos, @11mm and 7mm. Just checked wikipedia and they say max size of around one centimetre.
