Sonik angle-r 12ft 2lb tc rods

I’m looking for a pair of budget type rods for using on the river Trent and was wondering if anybody has any experience of the Sonik angle-r rods in 2lb tc ? I would be using them on the upper tidal reaches, maybe half a dozen to a dozen times, and would probably upgrade when I have more money to spend. So I’m wanting something to fill the gap up until then, Tia.

I don't know about the rods but would say 2lb tc may be a little undergunned for the Tidal. @Terry Harman has a pair of 13ft Korum 2.75lb tc Big Water rods for sale on the classifieds here for £60 that would be ideal for you to start with.

I fish both tidal and non tidal, and tbh the Tidal is far easier to fish than the non tidal. The tidal just fills up with less pace. Non tidal more more pace...

Thanks John, would you say that a 2lb tc rod would be sufficient? I’ve been told I’d be using 3 to 4oz feeders maximum by a friend who will be taking me, to Hoveram? I think he said would be the area we’d be going to? Tia

Just to clarify for you Jim, if it's Hoveringham where your mate is taking you, it's not the Tidal, that's Middle river between Gunthorpe and Fiskerton.

Normal levels on both, 2lb will be absolutely fine, even a couple of feet. I have fished hoveringham and if it's the road stretch, the Barbel were always tight to the bottom of the slope... try not to overthink it and just enjoy Jim...
