Luke Hodson

Senior Member
11'6" pair of factory built rods, SiC guides.
Used a couple of times but I tend to use one rod so these don't get used so are in excellent condition.
I also have the rod bags with them
£320 collected from Wellingborough Northamptonshire

No a through to middle actioned rod for lobbing and playing with backbone for big fish.
I have 3 of them 2 are in sleeves for fishing 2 rods (not being used) and the 3rd is made up as a single rod outfit. Definitely a keeper but I only tend to go out with 1 rod so will keep the 3rd and sell the other 2 and use the reels for another project.

I absolutely love an 11 foot rod. My go to rods for heavy water on the nene are free spirit S blanks big rivers which are as tough as they come and very much like a c3. I love the action of them but something a bit shorter and just as powerful would be even nicer. I don’t want a stiff poker with a floppy tip just a powerful rod and at 11,6 these could be the daddy. I must research them a bit more before committing. Cheers

They are just the rod you have described, perfect for Nene and Great Ouse 👍

lots of info about them on this forum
Cheers

Can’t believe the price they were and now are!!!

Had a pair of these since they were released - absolutely bombproof British engineering. No problem with a 4oz big feeder cast overhead on the tidal Trent or lower Severn. Underarm lob - 6oz big feeder (3oz of pellets etc.) absolutely no problem.
Action is deep/progressive, when you need to put the power on action goes to just below the first rod ring. Great as a 'hit-and-hold' rod, and controlling big doubles on big, deep & swift rivers i.e. lower Trent. Construction is bombproof as well - industrial level of build and finish - lacquer on mine are still clear & unblemished and all rings/reel fittings are top notch. Had 4 nice fish on the tidal to 10lb on one of mine yesterday - XL 4oz feeder casting 40 yards overhead all afternoon no problem. A classic rod.

I’ve had a think Luke and I’m going to buy a set of these but sadly not this set and I’ll explain why.
my free spirits are custom built. They have 7 Fuji k series sic guides plus tip positioned in a ringing pattern that I have specified. They also have permanently whipped on isotopes with a custom design sight tip. Now even at your price which is a bargain btw it would cost me more to have these rebuilt how I wanted them then it would for me to have a custom pair built.
the other thing is your rods look to be a clear varnished finish and no rod builder that I know would want to reposition rings on a glossed finish rod because it’s near on impossible to not leave witness marks where the original position was on this finish.
now I know most people will buy them and be happy how they are but if I’m buying rods to replace custom built rods then I think I’d probably regret not customizing the new set.
Cheers for the information mind. I’ll be seriously considering a set to replace the big river S’s

Richard, absolutely no problem, I’m sure someone will be along soon 😁

They are a wonderful blank as Simon’s testimony and you will love playing fish on them👍

I can confirm whoever buys from luke, will not be disappointed with their purchase. I brought a load of shimano technium rods from him, and they were as mint condition as you could get. Still not used them😳
