Snow Barbel

We’ve still got about an inch or so of snow on the ground around here (West of Preston) although it’s thawing rapidly today. I wondered whether anyone had caught a “snow barbel” during the recent spell of inclement weather ? Piccies appreciated if anyone was brave or lucky enough.

As far as i'm aware Keith spears often fished chalk streams/rivers which originate from below the ground via aquifers, so the water isn't as cold as round these parts Ste. As you know the river we fish runs off huge rocky hills and which are cold enough at the best of times, but the amount of snow melt going in the river for the next week is likely to keep the water temp's down even if the air temp's rise.....if you get my meaning.

Those "southern softies" don't realise how lucky they are having access to those lovely warm chalk streams to fish 😉🤣.

I’m down on the Hampshire Avon for the last full week of the season. Think I’ll take my boots and socks off and go for a paddle when I get there ! 😀😀😀

Sadly, Keith is no longer with us, we had a little spat many years ago, but thankfully, we kissed and made up before his passing. R.I.P. my friend. 🙏

Fished with Keith a number of times.

The best of company. Still miss his laugh. He phoned me and we had a lengthy chat whilst I was at Britford, on the afternoon of his passing.

So sad.
