Skrettings pellets?

Has anyone ordered pellets direct from Skrettings? As they actually manufacture the pellets for the aquaculture industry (where most of our pellets come from anyway), I'm assuming the quality and freshness will be spot on?

As per below link, the price without postage works out at just over £1 per kilo:

Also very interesting that you can buy these pellets with the option of added Astaxanthin; if memory serves this was the magic ingredient in the original elips pellets, which gave them their orange colour (omitted from more recent versions due to cost?)

It also wouldn't surprise me if some bait companies are selling the same pellets under a different name and at double or triple the price?

I wasn't overly impressed with the new hinders elips pellets, so hence why I'm looking at other options.

Used their ornamental pellets for my koi. Really good quality and often repackaged (easy to spot with nutritional composition. Didn't know you could buy direct, think the web shop is recent addition. Astaxanthin is used in salmon farming to make flesh pink. Not sure it has any specific attraction properties (apart from anglers).

I personally would be very against using feed that is specifically made for salmonoids that the suppliers have advised they are unsuitable for coarse fish and in fact damaging.

Better the products tagged for coarse fish. Not necessarily for catch rates though.

I'm using 4mm and 6mm skrettings at the moment as my loose feed, and with a low oil content they seem to work for me, and at £24 for 20 kg the price is good too.

So you would not use halibuts in the summer then Graham?

To be honest Jason, done more trotting than barbel fishing this past year.

I think the salmon feed has a higher scent leakage and may work quicker.
