Shimano Stradic Specialist Rod, 12ft, 1.25lb tc

Annoyingly snapped the Avon top section of this rod the other day.
Long discontinued but a great rod.

This rod originally came with both an Avon top and a quiver top section.

Just wondered if anyone had a spare top section available or a rod they would be prepared to sell.

Alternatively what current rods would be a comparable or better replacement.

Thanks

Good luck with the search, bloody annoying when you break something you can’t easily replace. Not sure what current rods would be comparable other than the drennan specialists but keep an eye on eBay for shimano Technium specialists, I believe these superseded the Stradics

The action on those stradic specialist rods is just superb and to be honest I don’t think it’s the trend with rods any more to be so classically through actioned as these are.

Daiwa power mesh Avon pms112 would be a close match. But no carrier section or quivers with those.

Finding a top section only for it is a tall order but finding a complete Rod with missing or broken quiver tips for a very sensible price is definitely possible. These never seem to break the bank anyway when they pop up used even complete ones so I’ve no doubt you’ll have it back in action for a reasonable price.

I’ll keep my eyes peeled and let you know if I see one pop up.

As Alan mentions the shimano techniums are good, but the slightly more expensive shimano antares rods were very nice and the next level up from the techniums.

Paul. Not exactly what you’re looking for but if you fancied an upgrade…….. I have a genuinely unused Technium Specialist. It’s never had a reel on it, don’t recall it being put together. Shrink wrap still on handle. Carrier section with 1 1/2, 2 , 2 1/2oz glass tips and a 3oz carbon tip. Original cloth bag and Cordura tube. Its twin has been and still is in regular use. Why did I ever think that I needed two?

Thanks for your replies and offers so far
Not really planning to upgrade unless I have to as the broken one is also one of a pair, so I do have a spare and it is likely to be more expensive to buy a pair of newer rods.

I don’t use these rods that often but they are excellent general coarse fishing rods and the usual rod of choice when I go out fishing with my son.

Think I’ll hold out and see if one ever turns up on eBay for the time being.
Fingers crossed.
