Shimano spool clicker spring keeps breaking

Apologies for the explanation of the spring, its the little pring on the spool that is part of the mechanism that give the drag on a reel its click...

Shimano spool clicker spring keeps breaking, I have had some shim XTB's and 2 springs broke on these this year, then halfway through playing a Barbel on the float this week, my drag clicker on my Shim Technium 6000FB fell silent and on investigation the spring holding the clicker had broke again.

Getting a bit fed up with this, has anybody else had this happen to them???

ps ringing up felindre tomorrow, because I think it will be an absolute mare to change especially with my sausage fingers...

Jon,
common fault on the XTBs if you read the various carp forums. Sadly, as there's likely to be a fair amount of commonality between all the reels wherever there can be, it's likely to mean that pretty much all reels with that part are liable to give the same issue. Can't say I've encountered it yet on my own reels. Maybe I'm not using them enough!:D That or I've got too many reels for too many different purposes and don't spend enough time doing any one thing.;)

Just spoke to Shimano Felindre and its just a case of returning the spools and new springs will be fitted.

Well done Shimano

At what cost though Jon??

It happened on my XTB's aswell. An email to felindre and they posted me the three parts that make up the assembly FOC.

It's easy enough to replace even with sausage fingers, use a bit of grease or copperslip to hold the screw on the driver bit and the clip and housing for it in place on the back of the spool.
