Shimano Purist Light Specialist

Jon
Thanks for pointing this out looks just what I am after.
I too would be intereste dto see if any one has any experiences of the rod.
I am looking to replace a shimano 11ft 3in powerloop feeder rod(I left it behind on the river)
That rod was one of the cheaper shimano rods of about 10 years ago but for me was just the job for small maggot feeders for Roach and Chub, but still very capable.
Thoughts on this rod would be useful thanks I am also considering a Diawa Therory 10-11 any comments ?

Cheers Ken. After reading a few write ups, it is very versatile and ticks all the boxes.
1.25 11 foot and 12 foot 6.
0.75 11 foot and 12 foot 6.
3 Quiver tips from 0.75 to 2oz also fished at 11 and 12 foot.
The best bit for me is when its fished at different lengths the sections fit into the butt/reel seat section. I still havent seen one yet, hopefully some feed back will be shortly coming.

Really fancied one of these rods. However, a poor opinion (probably not a fair one but when did such things need to be perfectly logical?:D) of the last Shimano rod I bought (Stradic Feeder), and the discounted prices of the Fox Duo-Lites lead me to one of these. http://www.climaxtackle.com/fox_barbel/duo-lite_avon_rod.htm The lack of feedback on the Purist range was also a concern.

Climax are also knocking out these too.

You could buy both for the price (or less than) of the Shimano.

We've sold a few of these and the reports back have all been favourable.

I had a play with one of these the other day. My main use was to be for quiver fishing, just to keep this short, it had one of the most terrible actions i have ever seen, the quiver bent and the carrier section stood firmly still. I didnt bother with the rest of the rods other equations, that was enough for me. Who is Darren Goulder anyway.....

bloody hell !!!

how / where did you play with it john ??

I has ordered one of these from my local tackle shop(subject to trial) and when we set it up in the shop this afternoon I was very disappointed.
Like John says stiff as a poker more an out and out Barbel rod than a light quiver.
However the package gives excellent value for money and if someone is just starting to fish for Barbel, Carp and is looking at something which will multi task this could be just the thing.
To stiff for me and I plumped for a Drennan 11ft 6 -13ft super feeder a really nice soft action, just right for the lighter style of feeder fishing for Roach and Chub but still with some backbone for the surprise fish.
Well done again Drennan and the finish is very good for the price.
Just goes to show that buying over the net does have its down side and to spend an hour playing around with various rods and cup of tea takes some beating.
Support your local before they are gone.

Looking for a light, multi length quiver rod, for fishing for just about anything.
Has anyone got any user reports etc etc.

Jon, try these, Feeder/ quiver rods is what they do ! not cheap but -- !

http://www.tri-castfishing.co.uk/index.html

Buy a multi tip (solid and quiver) dual test curve test curve and you are always going to get a compromise, thats what they !

Knowing Darran. i'm sure he'll be distraught that you aint heard of him :D:D:D

I hope he is not distraught at all, i think he is a BFWer as someone with the same name has looked at my profile. But i stand by what i said about the quivertip action of the rod. As you say its very hard to have a multitude of uses for a rod and thats the compromise.
I have a soft spot for Tricast as they were the first carbon match rods and pole i bought as a youngun. After doing a bit of trawling ebay and various classifieds i have now got 2 rods for the purposes i intended, A shimano Technium specialist feeder and Antares 12 foot feeder rod, both at very good prices.
