Shimano 6000 XTEA Super baitrunner reel in very good condition baitrunner drag all working well just a small amount of rubber lost from the handle from mice bites that's been smoothed over. Spare spool with a few marks. Fantastic all around baitrunner that's probably one of the best specimen reels shimano made.

amazed this bargain hasnt been snapped up I bought a couple may have been from you ?
and then I did some research

and found a lot out about the XTEA models they have gears made from different material that dont wear out Shimano

THEN after this range changed to a different material the gears were made from maybe to cut costs or they were lasting too long ? I have it on VERY good authority
that the gears on subsequent reels will never be as good
also the reels have EIGHT !!! bearings another reason for their smoothness and longevity ?
spare spools change hands on ebay for £25 to £35 alone ! if I didnt have 4 reels and 8 spools I would have ripped your arm of lol

You should buy that off clive Gerry.
You would be gutted if one of yours failed and like the rest of them it’s only a matter of time before spares get thin on the ground.
At that price you’d be mad not to buy it as a spare.

Ah ok 4 is probably enough then. 👍🏻

Yeah they are a decent reel I’ve had afew of them apart now and they are typical high end shimano stuff.

Just wish they’d start bloody putting worm drives back in them like the Japanese did. Rear clutches work fine if they are looked after.
Problems only arise when people leave them tightened up for long periods and don’t service them regularly enough.

You will know more about how clutches in reels work than me.
Does this still apply to front drags.
Not to the same extent
On A front clutch the plates slip directly inside the item you want to release (spool) so you’ve got this relationship between the line being pulled and the plates slipping right behind the line. The plates are much bigger too so the contact point being larger offers more stability in the slippage.
Rear clutches work perfectly fine but they need a little more looking after to retain a smooth slip. For 1 you’ll always have a degree of free play. This is where the spool is fitted to the shaft via the cross pin.
Rear drags don’t slip inside the spool they release the main shaft that the spool is pinned to. So you’ve got essentially 5 inches of steel shaft taking the impact before the plates let go and slip. This does have an impact on how smooth the line can be released and with the best will in the world a well set rear cannot be as smooth on delivery as a well set front. The physics show it can’t be possible.

Having said that. …. Rear clutches can be really good still. With a decent set of plates and well maintained they will perform absolutely fine.

If you don’t look after them they are awful and you’ll not get away with neglecting them as much as you would a front clutch

Sorry all now sold
