Shelf life paste

Hi folks, got some boilie base mix today,is there another additive apart from eggs and extra flavourings that's needed so it will stay fresh as in 'shelf life' without keeping it in freezer?I keep buying tubs of paste in shops but want to make my own with preferred flavour's.

Eggs really improve paste consistency, but severely reduce the shelf-life. If you want something that lasts a long time in just the fridge then you need to not include any eggs IMHO. My experience tells me that chilli seems to lengthen shelf life, but anything that would 'go off' in a fridge will be likely to go off eventually in a refrigerated-only paste.

Hi men ,

Liquid preservative is available from bait companies , worth a google , but CC Moores are the first place id look at .

Just mix up a one egg lot for each session.

I believe potassium sorbate is the shelf life boilie preservative of choice, but as it's essentially a mould inhibitor I'm not sure how it would fare with a sticky/wet paste. Anyone tried it?

Used it in boilie mixes many years ago, dont see any reason why it shouldn't work with paste the problem is getting the inclusion level right.
