Scoured worms

A recent post in another thread by Graham Elliot mentioned these.

Not wishing to digress that thread onto something totally different, can someone remind me how and why you’d scour your worms? Are scoured superior to unscoured? Is it something you do to certain types of worm or all?

I vaguely recall scouring having something to do with putting them in moss for a while but other than this I know not why.

I last did this about 50 years ago - old books would refer to it as 'cleaning' the worms & maybe emptying their digestive system. If the moss is absolutely saturated then the worms get 'plumped up' & maybe a bit more wriggly which might be an advantage. Haven't used lobworms for a while, current weather should see plenty up on top a few hours into dark.
