Rod recommendation needed again

Hi all, hope you and yours are all doing very well!

After your fantastic recommendation for the Harrison Chimera 3s which basically cover almost all my needs for a river and small water carp/barbel rod, I am thinking of scaling down my rods to 2-3 pairs or great rods I always use.

The Chimera 3s in 12ft are great for all fishing situations I face on my local river and also the small open lake I fish.

I thought about a rod that is like the Chimera 3 but in 11ft with maybe a slightly lesser test curve of 1.75 or 2lbs.
A rod that can handle it all, chuck out feeders up to 3oz, leads of up to 3 or 3.5oz with a small pva bag and still be fun to play smaller fish on. And has the power to handle bigger fish.
Requirements I didnt think were possible before but the CHimera 3s do all that.

So basically I am looking for a slightly lighter thing in 11ft that is like the Chimera 3! Albeit the Chimera 3 does not exist in 11ft.

I know 11ft is not popular at all anymore. Wonder why? But 10ft is too short for my liking really but might be an option if nothing else is available in 11ft.
I have a few rods in 11ft 2lbs and 2.25lbs and the closest thing to what I need is the old North Western Multi Range 11ft 2.25lbs which should do the trick. Would like to sell all these rods though and invest in something new.

Any recommendations?

Free spirit Barbel Seeker or Free spirit Barbel tamer 2lb which is about half the price of the seeker. I think it comes with a quiver tip top section as well as the avon top section.

Thank you very much for your replies!
Have bought the 12ft Barbel seekers this year... too Bad. Should have gone for the 11ft version and I might have been set already :-/.

The Tamers are super rods for the money agreed. I have a few but they tend to be on the soft side compared to the Seekers.

For the purpose some hidden power without being stuff aka like the Chimeras would be perfect.

Is the Torrix range much stiffer than the Chimeras?

I dont know why you think 11ft is not popular anymore... the Torrix 11ft is superb.

You are right. I should have said not popular amongst carp fishermen and companies anymore as there are a lot of 9,10 and 12ft models available but only a handful of 11ft rods ready made

Harrison GTI 11ft either 1.75lb or 2lb TC or
Torrix 11ft 1.75 or 2lb TC

I've only used both the GTI and the Torrix in 1.75lb TC. Both are brilliant blanks. Up until about 6 months ago I would have steadfastly insisted the GTI was the better blank...but having used the 1.75 torrix for barbel (having only previously ever used it properly for tench) I've come to the conclusion that the torrix is slightly better, just. I've since sold the GTI.

Torrix has a semi progressive action, the tip is soft but has a lot of backbone. Chimera is similar to barbel seeker, a classic through action rod.

I love the chimera range and if I was told I could only use 12ft rods then they would bump to the top of my list.
Torrix and chimera are completely different beasts.
Chimera has a stiffer tip with a more through action in the whole rod.
Torrix have softer tips with a through action in the top 2/3 of the rod. The last 600mm of the blank only really comes into play when something very special is pulling back
On the 11ft Version it feels absolutely superb. On the 12 foot version I’m not so keen but that’s just my thoughts.

Very interesting, thank you for your comments. So currently I am leaning towards the torrix really as 11.5ft for the flood rod is just too long again as I will be using this rod for carp in lakes as well and have enough 12 footers.

Free Spirit anyone? Any experience with 11footers there? Best regards

Free spirit 11ft su seekers are nice rods.
Very through actioned
I wouldn’t really call them stepped up personally but very capable of landing big fish.

I have torrix and fs barbel seeker, both in 11ft and 1.75lb. I love both rods, as I said before, torrix is semi through or progressive action with a soft tip, I even used it with maggot feeder and caught some roach. barbel seeker is a classic through action rod, it bends towards the middle of the rod. Both has strong backbone, torrix maybe slightly stronger than the seeker towards the butt. I can’t say which one is better, both are excellent rods, choosing between them is just down to personal preference and you can’t go wrong with any of them.
