River Wye conditions

Roger Hopkins

Senior Member & Supporter
Never fished the Wye before and Just received my Hereford & district membership, can someone please let me know if conditions are any good for a bit of float fishing for chub/silvers over next couple of days?
I’ve looked at the levels but it’s near 90 mile round trip, I have bread and maggots😀
Thanks for any help👍

The river is low, clear and cold, head for the Hereford town centre stretch (Belmont), its full of fish this time of year, you might find the fish have moved out towards the middle as its so clear, when its up with colour you can catch on the inside. Bailiffs along there will give you good advice.

Yes, it will be OK Roger, but despite cold conditions make sure you take fair bit of heavy Groundbait.

If you use FBook also look at recent match results and pegs that produce. A wrong choice could mean a blank whilst 3 peg numbers away you'll possibly catch 50lb
