River Wear Barbel Help

I recently got back into fishing after a lengthy lay off due to work commitments. I liked to target Chub on the river Wear and had some decent catches over the years, but I now want to target barbel, I'm going to be fishing the river Wear in and around Durham. I`ve joined Durham AC plus there's the free stretches around the city that ill be targeting.

Any help on areas that would be worth a try to help me catch my first barbel would be much appreciated?
