With it being all doom and gloom on the barbel front this year I was thinking of changing up my fishing a bit and maybe doing some Perch and Pike fishing.
I've caught pike before on lakes with dead baits and lures in january but i've never fished for them in the summer. I know my local stretch of river the teme has pike and perch because you can spot them from the bank. And theres no doubt about the quality of their food source.
Are there any experienced anglers here who can answer my questions?
Do we fish for pike in winter just because the other more traditional coarse fish go a bit quieter?
Are they harder to catch or not worth fishing for in the summer?
If it is worth a go, what time of day, bait, fishing set up will be appropriate?
Ive caught plenty of chub and barbel but please be patient i am a predator fishing novice at best.
