Was the first place I fished as a 10 year old, I am amazed that a 16lb 4oz bertie haunts the river.

Be interesting to know where that came from. I'd imagine it would be one of the original fish that was stocked quite a few years ago. As I understand it, the Soar has had smaller stockings over the recent years as the older fish died off.
I never liked fishing the "natural" river back in my match days, much preferring Normanton and Sutton Bonnington stretches.
