River skerne

Hi all,does anyone know much regarding barbel in the river skerne.during lockdown I was walking down the river skerne and had seen 2 barbel about 6lb in a schoal of chub .

Does anyone fish the river or have caught any barbel .last season I caught about 2 doesen chub and 3 trout but only found the barbel last month.thanks any information is appreciated

though you've probably already seen them. Good luck though I did see a post saying that the river is very vulnerable to pollutants and often whole stretches are wiped out. I hope you find a few!

The stocking policy of the Northumbrian region EA means that they indirectly stock the Tees by stocking the tributaries. The Skerne is one of those tributaries that has seen lots of fish introduced in the last few years, including barbel.
