Just got my verulam ticket any one fished or know much about marford farm fishery any info would be great

On the Lea. Popular fishery with high stock of small barbel. One or two low doubles. Probably best avoided at weekends and will pay to get away from the car park area. All methods will catch.

Might be worth joining the VAC forum, there's bound to be plenty of info.

Hi Robert, as Simon says, a very popular venue and not just at weekends.

The short walk is stuffed full of Barbel, twenty fish in a session is not unusual, the long walk is far more natural and has a good head of fish but nowhere near the numbers on the short walk.

Good numbers of Chub aswell and some quality Roach also present.

Fill your boots. :)

thanks very much for the info lads cant wait to get down there now

Hi all. Whilst fishing at Stanborough an angler told me that wheathampstead is a good stretch for trotting and that Marford farm is free fishing. Im also intrigued!

marford farm

its not free ,its very strictly bailiffed even to checking rigs barbless hooks only no nets ,unhooking mats you have been warned

Hi Hurgen, no it`s not on a day ticket, strictly members only and no guest tickets either.
The Club that runs it is Verulam Angling.

Robert

Go on the forum at VAC and send a PM to my mate Keith Speer. He will help you I promise. Might even pop down and have a chat.
I know this is a barbel site but don't overlook the roach.

Mike

I spoke to Keith a little while back and he mentioned something about a day ticket somewhere around there. Now that i think about it im not sure where it was so it probably wasn,t Marford farm but he mentioned somewhere close. I think i will just join the club. Until then i will just go up around the area and ask around to see where the free part is. Thanks Kevin

Hi Chaps

I am a member and I am on The Verulam General Committee.

Yes the rules are VERY strict and we do bailiff the water very thouroughly, I am NOT a fan of Barbless hooks but it can be difficult changing some mindsets.

As for Barbel, if you live in north London or in Hertfordshire joining The V.A.C is a must, 5 very, VERY good sections of the Great Ouse, we have not had any Barbel above 19lb 5oz so they wont interest everyone, six miles of The Ivel two sections of The Lea (3 if you count Marford Long walk and short walk sections as two, they are very different and both are stuffed with Barbel and we are also members of The Fishers Green Consortium http://www.fishersgreencon.co.uk which sports Barbel to 15lb and Chub to over 8lb.

I am more than happy to respond to PM's with any Info about any of the fisheries and the fish they contain, even the Roach which are huge but VERY hard to catch!

Tight Lines Chaps.
