Matt, i think you'd be much better off targeting the Thames mate. There are Carp in the Loddon, but few and far between, i've been fishing the Loddon for 13 years now, and have one caught one.
It seems to me over the years hundreds maybe thousands of them which have escaped from the nearby lakes, would be getting caught fairly regularly, which they don't or anything close to it, which suggests to me they follow the flow and end up in the Thames - where there are thousands of them !
