Reel Size for 2 3/4lb TC Basia

I'm wondering what reel size people typically use on the 2 3/4 Basia?
I currently have Okuma INC-6000 on them, but having used the 4000 Thunnus on my lighter rods, I'm thinking that I might go for a baitrunner instead.
I think that the 4000 would probably be fine on them, but the thought of the 6000 Thunnus has now entered my head!

They will be mainly used on the middle and tidal Trent.

As the rods are sitting in rests for most of the time, balancing up the ideal sized reel is really not too important. However as you are going to be lobbing out larger leads and feeders particularly on the tidal sections then I would suggest a larger reel with quite a low gear ratio just to offer you some cranking power when bringing your payload back in the heavy flows.
If money is no object then the thunnus 6000 would be a great choice. But so would the D or OC be equally as good

I use 6000 X Areo's on mine.

You might want to consider the 8000 if you're casting long distances over the tidal, only slightly heavy and no noticable size difference, apart from the spool width, which is larger, taking more line...

I just can't get on with front drags, Jon. I find I'm turning the drag the wrong way, and fiddling about at the front of the spool when the fish are close to netting doesn't seem right to me. Much prefer the rear drag of the Shimano's, and the X Areo's seemed the best option at the time I bought the Basia's.

Having said that, I do use a front drag on my float set up. But still mess up with that. I always back wound in my match fishing days and never used a clutch until I started fishing for Barbel.

I'm absolutely the opposite Simon, I had some Xteas some years ago, brand new, I so wanted to get on with them, but couldn't in the end...
It's better stay with what you know, because when you get a serious fish on it could all.end in disaster...
I did fancy a set of 6000xaeros, for my lake fishing and then came across a very cheap set of Daiwa Whiskers (front drag again) which suited me more. However, i have just got used to the QD system.
I've recommended the Thunnus,.but I tried to source a couple of 4000s again this year and it was a mare. Australia/NZ wouldn't send them as shimano wouldn't let them. If John is set on a Thunnus, OC or D type reel, the latter are easily sourced, and the Thunnus would have to be purchased maybe from the US.
All.3.are v good reels and very similar. My old Thunnus 8000s are about 14 years old now, been serviced 3 times I think and never skipped a beat, apart from me nearly killing them by pumping grease into the grease port... I thank Richard Isaacs for sorting them out..
